European SMRs vs US Microreactors: Who Actually Competes for AI Firm Power?
Radiant is ~1 MWe portable. BlueCore is ~10 MWe barges. Europe’s credible peers are mostly larger: Seaborg barges, CORE POWER FNPPs, Blykalla, Thorizon, NUWARD, Rolls-Royce SMR.

Europe does compete on advanced nuclear — rarely at Radiant’s 1 MWe container class. Closest maritime analogue is Seaborg (DK) CMSR power barges and UK-based CORE POWER floating plants. Land SMRs (Blykalla ~55 MWe-class, Thorizon ~100 MWe/2034, NUWARD, Rolls-Royce SMR with UK/CZ/Sweden commitments) are utility/industrial plants. Useful for energy-investor diligence; none are AGICY CapEx or a Cyprus siting claim.
Map the classes, or you will compare the wrong machines
Radiant Kaleidos ≈ diesel-replacement microreactor. BlueCore / MARAD ≈ port barge, ~10 MWe, very early. European names cluster higher:
Seaborg (Denmark) — compact molten-salt reactors on power barges (modules often described ~100 MWe; multi-unit barges). Design completion language around 2026; first barge often cited ~2028 in older IAEA notes. Samsung Heavy / KHNP consortium history. Best EU floating analogue.
CORE POWER (UK + US arm) — June 2026 feasibility on BWXT mPower (~195 MWe) inside shipyard-built floating nuclear power plants aimed at utilities, ports, industry, datacenters, military.
Blykalla (Sweden) — lead-cooled SEALER; application for a six-unit park at Norrsundet (~330 MW combined in company materials). Demonstration SEALER-D ~80 MWt class. Not portable 1 MWe.
Thorizon (NL/FR) — molten-salt; Apr 2026 MoU toward demonstrator ~2030 and commercial Thorizon One ~100 MWe in Zeeland ~2034.
NUWARD (EDF) — European land SMR platform; Joint Early Review with regulators. Bankable industrial brand, not a barge.
Rolls-Royce SMR — 2026: GBE-N UK, ČEZ Czechia, Videberg Kraft Sweden selection. Multiple contractual commitments — the furthest EU utility SMR in competitive tenders. Grid plant, not a microreactor.
What this means for an EU AI campus
If you are an energy investor looking at AI datacenters, the European story is industrial SMR + interconnect, not a shipping-container reactor next to a hall in 2027. AGICY’s published COD energy path is still GOs/vPPA, BTM Boom fuel (€178/€150/MWh), LFP BESS, and hail-class PV optionality — H₂ blending remains TARGET / not COD. Nuclear — US or EU — is a future-check lane so the campus thesis can absorb firm-power tech when (if) licences and public consent exist.

Long-term vision
A sovereign AI factory that can take a barge SMR or a Nordic lead-cooled block in a later decade is more valuable than one that can only sign hyperscaler PPAs. That is an option on regulation, not a 2026 revenue line. We will not pretend otherwise.
